Lisha’s Kill Reformed Church

For many years Lisha’s Kill has strongly supported both local and global outreach. With our new focus upon “Connecting, Community and Caring,” compassionate outreach is again an important part of our ministry.

The Outreach Committee consistently looks for new and relevant ways to connect with our community, both to invite people to faith and involvement in our church, and to reach to the needy with a caring and helpful hand and heart.

Global Outreach

Missionaries: LKRC supports several “Partners in Missions” who are involved in mission work all over the world: Taiwan, Ethiopia, Hungary, Oman, Kenya, and Costa Rica to name a few. Our Reformed Church Women’s group provides additional support for these missionaries through special gifts at Christmas and other times during the year. To learn more about RCA ministries throughout the world, visit the Reformed Church in America at

Disaster Relief: LKRC occasionally responds to the needs presented through natural disasters all over the world through special offerings.

Local Outreach

Bethesda House, City Mission and Schenectady Inner City Mission (SICM) Food Pantry: These local missions are some of the ministries LKRC supports with monetary donations. Once a year we provide and serve a dinner at the Bethesda House, a homeless shelter in Schenectady. Several of our members also serve in various ways at the shelter. The City Mission in Schenectady and the Schenectady Inner City Mission Food Pantry are other ministries with which we have a strong connection.

KIDS HOPE USA: KIDS HOPE USA is the largest church sponsored, elementary school-based mentoring program in the country and has been in operation for 14 years. It has been recognized by three U.S. Presidents and was awarded a Presidential Daily Point of Light. LKRC joined together with KIDS HOPE USA in September 2009, because we believe that every child matters. We are partners with Woodlawn Elementary School, which is located in the Schenectady City School District. Students receive one hour of mentoring each week with a trained, committed mentor, and each hour is wrapped in prayer by a behind the scenes prayer partner. Lives are being changed —building caring relationships: One child, one hour, one church, one school. To learn more about KIDS HOPE USA, visit them at

Guiding Eyes for the Blind: Lisha’s Kill provides a venue for the training of dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. It is a usual sight for canine friends to be part of our communal life.
