Lisha’s Kill Reformed Church

About Our Ministry

We define the focus of our church’s ministry with three key words – Connecting, Community, Caring:

Connecting. When asked which is the greatest commandment in the Law, Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Thus we believe that our life and ministry at LKRC is to connect people with God and with others. Of course, our most vital connection is through the cross of Jesus Christ.

Community. When the church was born in the book of Acts, it understood that in order to survive as Christians, they needed one another. We read in Acts 2:44: “All the believers were together...” Thus we believe that LKRC must focus on building community, both with each other and with the “community” outside our doors. In a world in which electronic communication is widespread, authentic community is rare. We hope to be a place where people can find it.

Caring. As the early church did its work, its members recognized that they needed to care for others around them, to help meet their needs and to pray and serve them as followers of Christ, who came “...not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life...” To follow Christ is to care for others, both among our own congregation and also in the wider world. Thus we believe that caring is an important part of our ministry.
